Elijah just turned 4 months old on the 19th. Wow, it has gone by so quickly! He has slept through the night for the past two nights, but I think he is going through a growth spurt again because he's been wanting to eat like every 2 hours(during the day) the past 2 days! I don't know if he's not getting enought milk or is just super hungry. I've thought about giving him some rice cereal, but I don't know. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? How can I be sure if he is getting enough to eat from me?

I would hold off on the solids, most babies to do not develop the ability to digest carbohydrates until between 8 and 10 months old. Breastmilk is mostly protein and cholesterol with a small amount of glucose (pure sugar). None of my babies have ever had baby rice cerel...it's just white rice fortified with lots of man-made vitamins. Not good at all, let him develop to the point where he can eat REAL very mushy brown rice or REAL oatmeal or mashed banana...all of these are lots better than those baby cereals.
Breastmilk is more than sufficient for the first 6 months, if not longer. With my first, I gave him solids at 6 months...I could have waited, but it was my first and I was excited to feed him some "real" food ;-)
My second receievd no real food (except for little tastes here and there) until he was 8 months old. I knew he was ready because he stole food off his brother's plate and ate it just fine :-)
This is just one mother's opinion, but I think the best you could do for him is just continue with the breastmilk. It can be hard at every 2 hours, I've been there, but it will soon pass and eventually the breastfeeding reltionship will end and you'll look back on those "every 2 hour" periods as some of the happiest of your breastfeeding season :-)
When you do give him solids start with an egg yolk or a bit of whole milk plain yogurt, it's easier on his little system. ;-)
Here's a great article on feeding babies: http://www.westonaprice.org/children/nourish-baby.html
